Spotlight: Anna Santos, LVT
Today we're sharing an extra special spotlight. Anna Santos, LVT, is the lab animal health tech supervisor in the office of research at the University of Georgia. Anna is a long standing executive board member of GVTAA in various roles, is the Committee Vice-Chair for NAVTA's District Representative Committee, and is part of NAVTA's Membership Committee. Anna will be stepping away from GVTAA to focus on leading our industry in other ways, and we miss her already.

Job Outlook Statistics for Our Future
Did you know that in GA, there are almost 4 veterinarians for every 1 licensed veterinary technician? The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects there will be a 23% increase in job outlook for licensed veterinary technicians by 2032. Back in 2012 BLS predicted a 30% increase in job outlook by 2022, which actually turned out to be a nearly 45% increase! Who knows where the industry will find itself in another 10 years.

GA from RVT to LVT in 2018
Did you know, here in Georgia we are LICENSED veterinary technicians and NOT registered veterinary technicians? The official legal title was changed in 2018 to align veterinary technicians with licensed veterinarians.
Every Role Matters
In 1993, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) put forth a resolution, dedicating one week to honoring Veterinary Technicians during the 3rd week of October each year.
