Spotlight: Amy Lee Phillips LVT
We are so proud to spotlight some of our members for Veterinary Technician week. Currently a licensed veterinary technician in small animal orthopedics at the University of Georgia Teaching hospital, Amy Lee Phillips LVT has entered the chat ❤
"I started out in vet med at 15 years old at my local shelter. I went from kennel technician all the way up to shelter director. Homeless pets still hold my heart, and I still foster and help as much as I can. I have held many hats over the years, from rescue to general practice, and now back in academia after a short break.
I have been in the field for 20 years, 13 years licensed. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. The especially difficult patients who are scared or anxious are my favorite ones. I love working with them and helping them feel comfortable and peaceful while in hospital.
Some of my proudest moments are finding furbabies their forever homes, and being a presence for career days in our schools.
If I could tell our fellow technicians anything, it would be to remember why you started. You are seen, loved, and supported, we are a family and my heart goes out to you all!"
Shelter medicine is incredibly hard, yet it touches so many lives. Then to follow it up with orthopedics, an ever changing and ever growing field as pain medicine and management is better understood - you're out there on the forefront. This world is a better place because of you. To the world we are just one person, but for our patients we can change their whole world. Thank you for all you have done Amy ❤
Happy Vet Tech Week y'all 🐾
