Spotlight: Elise Byers, LVT
We are so proud to spotlight some of our members for Veterinary Technician week. Currently a practice manager at VCA Lilburn Animal Hospital, Elise Byers LVT has entered the chat
"My love for animals started at a young age. After graduating from Shiloh high school, I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia state University. I then had to decide if I wanted to get my masters in counseling or follow another career path that I could also be proud of. I decided to pursue my passion for veterinary medicine at Gwinnett Tech, where I obtained a Veterinary Technology degree in 2014. During my studies, I completed five clinical rotations, including one at Emory University, further enhancing my expertise.
My first job was with VCA Lilburn as the tech supervisor. I love being a technician and sharing my knowledge with anyone willing to learn and grow with me. I have a passion for fostering professional growth and encourage my colleagues to pursue licensing within the field of veterinary medicine. After a few years as a supervisor, I was offered a manager position at VCA Dunwoody. I learned a lot about the business side and other dynamics in the field of medicine. With four years of experience as a hospital manager, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to inspire and motivate my fellow team members. I am now at VCA Lilburn as the hospital manger, and could not be happier to be back. My leadership style promotes collaboration, open communication, and a supportive work environment, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to our beloved furry friends.
Working in vet medicine is an amazing opportunity. Some days are more difficult than others. The love and compassion I see every day keeps me going. You can experience so many different emotions in one day. I love the work that we do, and I am lucky to work alongside other soft-hearted people. A career in Vet medicine has many opportunities for enhancement and growth. I can't wait to see what the future holds!"
